More Digital Calendar Pages

Here are a few more pages that I created with My Digital Studio for my 2010 Calendar...

Doesn't it look like they actually LIKE eachother in these pictures? LOL. These moments are few and far between these days (unless there is money involved).

It's so cool that you can modify your photo as well. This first one was a color photograph - but I was able to change it to B&W (there is also sepia, and other color options). You can sharpen, soften, remove red eye, crop...etc. I wanted to keep this page simple and not add too much. I wanted the picture to be the main focus of the page, and too many elements can distract from that.

On this page, I added flowers from our stamp set Petal Pizzaz. It's so much fun adding buttons, brads and ribbons to the flowers digitally. I then added a "drop shadow" on the flowers to create the illusion of depth. Doesn't it look like the flowers are popped up on dimensionals? Very cool!

Thanks for stopping by...I hope you are having a safe and happy New Year!

My Digital Studio 2010 Calendar

I have been having so much fun playing with My Digital Studio this week. In addition to Scrapbook pages and cards, it also makes amazing calendars. I used many of my favorite pictures of my family to create amazing scrap pages for my 12x12 calendar. It's so easy and FUN. The possibilities are endless!

Here is the cover, and the January and February pages. I will share a few months each day.

COVER

(look how BIG Bella is now! She weighs over 80 lbs!)

JANUARY

FEBRUARY

I love looking at these pictures when my kids were so small. Time goes by so fast! I also love that in MDS, we have access to last years In Colors....Baja Breeze (which I used on the January layout), Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette...some of my favorites!

On the February layout, I used the Night and Day Designer Paper. It's awesome that our Designer Papers are part of the program and we can use it digitally. Very cool!

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a great day and stop by again soon!

One more Christmas Card

I am so sorry for not being a better blogger this month. I have been crazy busy (like most of you I am sure) getting ready for Christmas. I made over 80 cards this year, plus a special few done with My Digital Studio. I love making cards, gifts and tags...and every year I swear I am going to start earlier. And every year I don't.

I used the Dasher stamp for most of my cards this year. I just love that little reindeer. And he's only a $9 stamp! I made several versions, as there were so many I wanted to make. On this one, I wanted to use up some of the Christmas Cocoa Designer Paper I had left over.

The white cardstock behind dasher was embossed using the petals a plenty embossing forlder and the Big Shot die cut machine. The snowflake is made from the punch, and a brad in the center finishes it off.

I wish everyone a safe, healthy and happy holiday season. I look forward to stamping with you in the new year!

Merry Christmas to all ~

Stampin' Up! Treat Boxes...

...are so adorable and easy peasy! They come flat, you just fold together and viola!

I packaged up some treats for my neighbor who helped me out in a pinch a few weeks ago...so I wrapped the contents in a cello bag with pretty ribbon. And then I used the Stampin' Up! exclusive Two Tags Die (which is on SALE right now along with many other Big Shot dies!) to make this adorable tag. The snowman I put together with punches. Isn't he cute?

Here is a close up of the tag:

I love making gifts for people this time of year. Yes, it takes a little time, but you can't put a price on giving a gift that you hand crafted. You can't buy that in a store, and it's much more cost effective. This year, use your hands instead of your wallet. :-)
Have a great day everyone! Thanks for stopping by!

It's All About the Packaging...

So every year, my best friend Eileen and her Mom do an Annual Cookie Swap at the holidays. This is always a source of many hours of work. In other words, it's a big, fat hairy deal.

We always have to make between 12- 14 dozen of cookies. We make one dozen for each person in attendance, and one dozen extra for the party for us to eat.

We also do a grab bag, play some games, and it's just a really fun time. I look forward to it every year. It's a big girl event only, so no kids. I look forward to seeing all the gals that I haven't seen since the last cookie swap.

So, here's the thing...I can bake pretty good. Some years my cookies are better than others. Some years, they just suck. But for me, the cookie swap is more of a time to use my CRAFTING skills, rather than my baking skills. I am always wondering how I am going to package the cookies in a way that will be adorable. No cello bags with santa's on it from WalMart for me. Nope. It's got to be crafty and something you can't buy. I spend a lot of time each year trying to come up with something cute, and just a little better than last year.

I thought this year I wanted to make a house of some sort, and after playing around all week with loads of ideas, here is what I came up with.

This is made from a plain white gift bag. I cut the top part with the handles off, and covered the front and back with Kraft Cardstock (definately use sticky strip top adhere it so it doesn't come off). Then I cut another piece for the roof. The back of the roof adheres with Sticky Strip, but the front has velco closures so you can get into the bag. I punched 2 holes in the top of the roof and put in 2 Jumbo Pewter Eyelets. I then threaded the 5/8" Chocolate Chip ribbon through the eyelets and tied on the inside.

I stamped the snowflakes on front and back with White Craft Ink. The tree and bird are from the Season' of Friendship Stamp Set. The windows were made with punches. The red piece is 1.5" square, the Chocoalte Window is the 1 3/8" square punch. And the 4 little craft windows are 1/2" squares.

The door is simply a 2" x 3" piece of Kraft cardstock, sponged on the edge with Close to Cocoa. A Chocolate Chip Jumbo Brad acts as the door knob. The small heart is the smallest heart from the Heart to Heart Punch. The snow is simply a strip that I tore by hand, I added 2 way glue across the top and topped it off with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter.

The label "From Our House to Yours" was made for this project! It's from the Sweet Season Stamp Set. I stamped it in Chocolate Chip and colored the heart in with a Real Red Marker. It gets punched out with the Large Oval Punch.

I then punched 2 Real Red Scallop Ovals, and adhered them to the Wide Oval to make a background. 2 Gold Brads added to the sides, and a few Stampin' Dimensinoals, and viola!

I am pretty pleased how it turned out, although it did take me all day to design it. LOL.
Now I just need to find a really good Christmas Cookie Recipe! ;0)
Thanks for stopping by!
Have a great day!

Christmas Lounge Scrapbook Layout

As promised, here is the 2nd layout that we did at Scrapbook Club last week.

My club members LOVED these pages! There is a lot of cool stuff going on here. The new Stampin' Up! Decor Stencils take center stage. I must admit, I was quite reluctant in purchasing the stencils. The idea of using stencils didn't appeal to me. But let me tell you, these are not the stencils from the 80's...no little houses, hearts or grapes and ivy here. These stencils are COOL!

The pages are done in Sahara Sand Cardstock and Holiday Lounge Designer Series Paper. On the first page on the left, we used the largest of the Vintage Ornaments I stencil set, and sponged it with Sahara Sand Classic Ink. We then laid the swirl ornament over it, and used our Sponge Daubers with the Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint. It's so gorgeous I can't even stand it! :0)

The large snowflake is the Snowflake #2 Die for the Big Shot. We cut it out of Chipboard, and used the White Frost Shimmer Paint to cover it and put a Clear Rhinestone Brad in the center. I love that the Big Shot cuts so many different types of material, not just cardstock. It can handle chipboard, fabric, metal, leather...over 50 different materials! It's the BEST die cut machine ever.

On the 2nd page, we again used an ornament stencil - this time with Ruby Red Classic Ink (to coordinate with the Designer Series paper). The swirl is another stencil and we used the Frost White Shimmer Paint. Beautiful!

The ornaments on the bottom are from the Delightful Decorations Set and the Coordinating Punch (found in the Holiday Mini Catalog). The tag is a die cut...Two Tags...which I ADORE...I will be whipping out holiday gift tags in record time this year!

This round of scrapbook club is wrapping up in December. A new club will start in January and I am taking names now. I still need 2 more participants. So if you want to make beautiful layouts each month and have a fun night out, please let me know!

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a great day!

Christmas Blessings for Noah

Hello Stampers -

The story of 5 year old Noah has been circulating the internet, and I want to share it with you.
This little boy has been battling cancer for 2 1/2 years. Sadly, he is in his final stages. His only wish is to celebrate Christmas. His family is moving Christmas up to this week because he will not make it until the end of December.

Click here to learn more about Noah and his family.

Please join me in helping to make Noah's last earthly Christmas his best one ever and send this amazing little boy a Christmas card.

Here is his address:

Noah Biorkman
1141 Fountain View Circle
South Lyon, MI 48178 USA

His family has asked that if you would like to, you can also include $1 inside Noah's card which they plan to donate to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and to U of M for Neuroblastoma research. They have already received thousands of cards and gifts from around the world.

Thank you for taking the time to make this little boy's wish come true.

November Scrapbook Pages

Hello Stampers!
Last night was our Monthly Scrapbook Club Meeting. The gals seemed to LOVE the pages this month so I wanted to share them with you.
The first one features the Night and Day Designer Series Paper in the Holiday Mini Catalog.

I am not sure if you can tell, but we inked up the Medallion Stamp (my fave!) in Basic Black Craft ink and stamped it in the top right corner and lower left corner of page 1. We then added clear embossing powder and embossed it with the heat tool. It give a very rich tone on tone that lends wonderfully to the mood of the page.
The large scallop circle was made using the Scallop Circle BigZ die. The initial was cut out using the Serif Alphabet set for the Big Shot. Next to the initial is a punched out piece that reads "You are One of A Kind" - which was made using the Modern Label Punch. The tag at the bottom was stamped with the Original Definition stamp from the Define Your Life Set. That set is very popular for scrapbooking because it has so many wonderful defintions. Everyone was able to customize and use what they wanted to for the definition.
Page 2 is simply a 10x10 Whisper White layer on top of the 12x12 Basic Black. Then we used the Night and Day paper and Basic Black cardstock to create 3x3 squares. These will hold 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" pictures perfectly. I envision a "many faces of Jacob" type of page with each sqaure representing all the things that make my little man the awesome kid he is. :)

The next post tomorrow will feature the 2nd set of pages we did last night. You won't want to miss it as we used some COOL new products and made gorgeous pages!
Thanks for stopping by!

Falling Leaves

I wanted to share one of the cards we made at Card Club last week. This is the Falling Leaves Stamp set. I had gotten it a few months ago, and hadn't really used it yet. But once I got it inked up, I fell in love with it.

It's a pretty simple card....Soft Suede and Really Rust Cardstock, plus the Autumn Traditions Designer Series Paper. A few circle punches, and the new Modern Label Punch for the greeting makes it come together very easy. I added a few gold brads to brighted in up, and tied in the gold cord. A perfect card to say thank you, Happy Thanksgiving, or even for a fall birthday.
Thanks for stopping by,

Gift Giving From The Heart - Decorative Tiles Class

Hello Stampers,

I am sorry I have been away all week. As most of you might have heard (from me screaming here in CT) my email has had some major issues this week. All of the emails I have been sending have disapeared into cyberspace. Comcast is still working on it, so I hope to have this situation resolved soon! Thanks for being patient!

This is a class I did a few years back and everyone loved it so much. Since then I have gotten many more requests on when I would have another. So, just in time for the Holidays....here we go.

We will make these four 6x6 tiles in this class using Stampin' Up! Inks, Ribbons and Embellishments. These designs are inspired by my good friend and fellow demonstrator, Kimberly VanDiepen. She is such a wonderful person, and we always share ideas to help eachother out. So, thanks girl!

In uncertain times, when we are trying to get by with less, giving gifts that are handmade are not only cost effective, they are true expression of love and caring.

Instead of buying gifts, make them! The recipient will cherish that you took the time to make a gift instead of buy one. :)

This class is offered on 2 dates...

Thursday, December 3rd at 10:00 AM
and
Friday, December 11th at 6:30 PM.

There are 6 spaces available in each class.

Class fee is $25.00

What to bring: A Smile! :0)

NOTE: these tiles are decorative use only.

If you are interested in attending, please email me at Stamp4joy@comcast.net

Thanks for stopping by today!

If you want a private class for you and your friends, please contact me and we will find a date that is suitable for both of our schedules.

November Scrapbook Page

This 12x12 page is from our Days to Remember Calendar that I made last Christmas. It's a 12x12 calendar that you personalize, and make a coordinating page. When the month is over, the page tears out and you can put it in your Album.

I think I love this page so much because of the picture. This is my little man who was just a year old when we went to the Pickin' Patch to get pumkins. I plopped him down right in the field and took a jillion and two photos until I got the perfect one. :0) Now my little man is 8, and certainly not so small, but just as sweet and caring as always...and the best hugger in the whole world. :)

The quote on this page says "Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you will look back and realize they were the big things."

Have a great day and start thinking about scrapping the things in your life that you are grateful for. :0)

October Scrapbook Pages

Here is one of the layouts from my Monthly Scrapbook Club. We have a great time getting together every month working on our pages. This club is full, but I am currently taking names for another club...there are 3 seats left. Join me and scrap one night a month!

You deserve it!! :-)

This page uses Not Quite Navy and Very Vanilla together with the Bella Bleu Designer Paper. . The tag on page 1 reads "Tie your heart with an unslipping knot". The flowers were made using the Big Shot and flower die cuts, and the center is a Very Vanilla jumbo brad. Vanilla tafetta ribbon and a touch of gold cord ties this page together.

On page 2 we used the Always stamp set for the heart. We stamped it in Not Quite Navy Ink and sponged it and of course added glitter! :-) The top piece is a pocket that holds 2 tags (making tags is a snap with the Stampin' Up! tag corner punch).

And this page is from Courtney's workshop. She wanted to get the gals together for a Scrapbook Workshop and here is the SNOW page they made. It uses the Serene Snowflake Stamp Set (MY FAVE!) in the Holiday Mini, along with the Christmas Cocoa Designer Series Paper. That paper ROCKS. It's has a metallic subtle shine to it that is so RICH. There is also some of the patterns that are FLOCKED. Gorgeous!

The finishing touch on this page (and I am not sure you can tell by looking at this photo) was a fine mist spray of Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint to give it a subtle all over sparkle. We mixed 1 oz. of 91% rubbing alcohol to 15 drops of Shimmer Mist in a spray bottle (shake well!) After we stamped the page, we misted it with the spray (open a window...very strong fumes...but worth it!). It dries very quickly (because of the 91%) and it just adds that extra special touch to the page. This also works wonderfully on cards. :-)

Thanks for stopping by ~

take some time for yourself today and stamp a card or scrapbook page. :-)
