MDS Blog Hop Friday!

Hello Friends,

Welcome back! I hope wherever you are that you are getting a dose of this amazing weather we've been having. I was outside with Bella last night....barefoot! That has NEVER happened in March in Connecticut! Crazy! I just hope it's not 110 degrees by June!

This weeks theme was a fun one...to case a project from the Catalog (or mini Catalog). Since I didn't get to even begin on it until Thursday night after my Stamp Class, it had to be quick and cute!

I chose the layout on page 15 of the Idea Book and Catalog. It's a beautiful page of a Bride. I changed the colors and stamps, etc. and I used a completely different picture....

Here is my layout--

I seem to use a lot of Poppy Parade and Pool Party lately. I am so drawn to these colors. And the coordinating Everyday Enchantment DSP just makes me happy! That is one of the best things about having these option digitally...they  never retire!

Make sure you continue on the hop to see what the other gals have planned for you this week. And we have a very special guest joining us....Ms. Kimberly VanDiepen! She is stamper extraordinaire and now, she is becoming an MDS Diva as well! I am so excited she is joining us this week! :)

Thanks for stopping by...have a great weekend!

MDS BLOG HOP FRIDAY

Hello Friends,

Friday again! Yahoo! Thanks for joining us this week. We have a fun theme this week...and that is GREEN! That leaves it pretty w-i-d-e open. I looked back at some of my past work and I noticed that I don't use much in the green family, so I was excited for this challenge.

Now, I get the whole St. Patrick's theme is tied into this, if you are so inclined. But truthfully, we are not big celebrators of St. Patrick's Day. I know, I know...the horror! And I know that everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day. We did the traditional Corned Beef dinner, yada yada yada....and there it ends.

So, my page has NOTHING to do with St. Patricks Day. But I still love it.

I really got crazy with this one! There are so many layers on here, I don't even know if I recall them all! It took me hours, but I love that! I just get lost in my own little world while I am designing.

This is a picture when my kids were wee little ones. Now they are 15 and 10. But I cherish this time - it all goes by so fast!

Now let me tell you, I am no design wiz. I actually found a layout I loved on Pintrest (well, several actually) and I sort of scrap-lifted the layout. I sort of think of it as a Scrap Map. It helps me with element placement and the such. I encourage you to use others work for inspiration too! Sharing our love of crafting is what it is all about!

Now, be sure to hop on over to the other gals to see what Green-designs they have for you today!

Be sure to visit again next week, when the famous Kimberly VanDiepen will be our guest blogger! :)

Thanks for stopping by ~

MDS BLOG HOP FRIDAY

Hello Friends,

I am so excited because I am DONE with my project for this week, and it's only Monday! Woo Hoo! That NEVER EVER happens! LOL

So I am scheduling my page for this weeks challenge to post on Friday morning. That will be a huge change for me (usually I am working on it Thursday night!).

Heather got to pick the theme this week, and she chose another fun sketch. I LOVE sketch challenges...it's really interesting to see everyone's take on it.

Here is the sketch that Heather selected for this week:

I kept MOST of the elements of the page, but for the pictures I wanted to use, the arrows didn't seem to fit the theme of my page. So I just left those out.

Here is my page:

For those who know me, you know I am a HUGE Goo Goo Dolls Fan. People have told me it's bordering on unhealthy. Whatever. (LOL)

I love them, and I wanted to document at least one concert. This one was special because it was the first one I took Emily to. She had a great time and now she is as hooked as I am.

For my page I used the Downtown Grunge kit. The title font it CK Scratchy Box and the journaling is CK true type.

This was a really fun challenge and I am looking forward to doing more sketches with our weekly Blog Hop.

Make sure to continue on the hop, and check out what the other ladies have for you this week!

Thanks for stopping by.

Rock on my sisters,

MDS BLOG HOP FRIDAY

Happy Friday! I love Blog Hop day because that means another weekend is upon us!

This weeks theme is to CASE a layout done by another member of the blog hop team. Well, that is one difficult challenge I tell you! I love the work of all these ladies so much, that I had a hard time picking just one. I hope we do this challenge again...super fun to go back and look at everyone's work again. :)

But I decided upon this layout from MDS Rock Star Heather Summers....

This is such a great layout in my opinion, for several reasons.

#1) The subject is just so cute. I could gobble him up. :0)

#2) Heather's color choices are great....I love how the pumpkin pie pops out and ties into his shirt.

#3) It's a simple layout. It doesn't use TOO many embellishments. In my opinion, a great layout keeps the focus on the picture. And this accomplishes this exactly.

And here is my take on her layout.

I used Pool Party for the background. I layered the Dot, Dot, Dot stamp on the background and changed it to white. I scaled the opacity down to 20%.

I then followed Heathers layout, just changing a few things. She used the 1/2 circle punch for the banner, and I used the traditional pennant banner. The Designer Paper I used is the Sale-A-Bration selection Everyday Enchantment.

Thanks for stopping by today. Make sure to visit all the other ladies on the Blog Hop and check out their creations.

Happy Weekend,
